Week 2 Post 2.5 - MBA 6101 - Many brands have undergone significant rebranding efforts throughout history.

Several well-known brands have undergone significant rebranding efforts throughout history, and here are some examples of some of these well-known brands that have successfully rebranded their image:

After Apple Computer, Inc. changed its name to Apple Inc. in 1997, the company underwent a major rebranding and dropped the "Computer" from its name to become Apple Inc. This shift was in response to the company's expansion beyond computers to incorporate other consumer electronics products, such as the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

In 2015, Alphabet Inc., the search engine known as Google rebranded itself as Alphabet Inc. after it had been established in 1998. As a result of the change, the company has been able to separate its core search business from a diverse portfolio of other ventures, such as self-driving cars, artificial intelligence, and healthcare.

In 2011, the global coffeehouse chain Starbucks underwent a rebranding effort to update its logo. The company removed the words "Starbucks Coffee" and a ring encircling it, leaving only a green mermaid symbol as its only logo. This change was a reflection of Starbucks' intention of expanding beyond coffee and into a broader range of beverages and products as part of the company's strategic plan.

When the company was founded in 2008, it was initially referred to as "AirBed & Breakfast" (A&B). Still, in 2009 it changed its name to Airbnb to symbolize its core offering, which is facilitating short-term home rentals, and to signal its ambition to disrupt the industry of hospitality.

Mastercard: In 2019, Mastercard revealed a rebranding effort that included dropping the word "Mastercard" from its logo, leaving only the iconic overlapping circles in its logo. It was the company's aim to develop a brand identity that would resonate worldwide, as well as be easily recognizable in the digital age, that would be more modern and simple.

It's no secret that Dunkin' Donuts has made a lot of changes over the years, but in 2018, the popular American chain announced a rebranding initiative and officially became Dunkin'. The new name reflected the company's broader menu offerings beyond donuts and the emphasis it places on coffee and beverages.

Uber: The ride-sharing company Uber underwent a rebranding in 2018 to refresh its image. The company introduced a new logo and a simplified visual identity, moving away from the stylized "U" symbol to a more straightforward wordmark.

Among the many brands that have undergone rebranding efforts in recent years, it is not only these examples that have been used, but many other brands have done so to respond to changing market dynamics, refresh their image, or communicate a new message.
