Week 5 MBA 6601 Blog Post #2: Impact of AI in a Grand Spectrum

It is our belief that Prof. Kelsey, in his book Surfing the Tsunami, speaks of the importance of adapting and accepting AI as it is and will be an integral part of the future of our economy as well as the rest of the world.
Artificial intelligence has already made a significant impact on a variety of platforms, from social media to e-commerce such as Amazon, digital assistance to the automotive industry, and more. This book uses Amazon as an example of when it first appeared on the web in the early 2000s. It was once believed that Amazon's e-books would not compete with traditional bookstores (* BN), but the reality couldn't be more different. There is no doubt that e-books and Kindles are among the most popular electronic devices today. Not to compare AI and Amazon, but Amazon today is a major part of how everyone shops. You can't go down a neighborhood without seeing Amazon delivery trucks.

When organizations embrace the change rather than resisting it, they will be able to reap the benefits.
A company can choose to take a "sustainably transition to artificial intelligence" (Kelsey, pg. 101) and participate in the redevelopment phase of the organization as AI is being integrated into automation systems, machine learning, productivity, contact centers, accounting, and many other areas of an organization. The organization can do so by educating and training their current employees, as well as ensuring that their employees are capable of achieving long-term growth.

Among the other points Kelsey makes is that it is important to keep in mind when he speaks of routine work. If artificial intelligence hasn't taken over those tasks already, it will shortly do so if it has not already. It will prove to be quite useful and liberating for those who embrace the changes that artificial intelligence will bring to them in the future. Employees will be able to be more productive with their time as it will allow them to accomplish more tasks rather than repeat the same tasks every day. If the people to whom the predictions are being made refuse to accept the reality that surrounds them, then there may not be a chance for them to see the full potential of artificial intelligence. As AI is already impacting many jobs, why don't we be the ones to let them know of its potential instead of trying to stop what is inevitable?

I would like to point out that artificial intelligence is another area that will be significantly affected by it. Take this course for example. One can create a short commercial or an advertisement using any of the AI platforms, and then post it to any social media platform, building a following using a small marketing budget (applying Guerrilla Marketing methods) or at no charge depending on the usefulness of the creator.
